What Are Adhesion Seal Bags for Clothing?

Adhesion seal bags are clear OPP film bags (oriented polypropylene) with an integrated self-adhesive seal. Unlike ziplock bags with a zip profile or standard flat bags for heat-sealing, they have an adhesive flap that is simply folded over and sealed after filling. This turns the bag into ready-to-ship packaging without any tools. In fashion retail and online shipping, they are the standard for clothing, jewellery and accessories.

Compared with LDPE, the OPP film has several practical advantages: it is considerably clearer (almost like glass), stiffer and therefore better for presentation, and it does not crease as easily. For fashion presentation this is an important advantage – the packaged garment is presented on full view, not hidden behind a cloudy film. The adhesive flap itself is equipped with food-grade adhesive, holds a reliable seal and can be opened by the end customer without any problems.

What is an adhesion seal bag?

A bag with an integrated adhesive flap on one side – after filling, the flap is folded over the bag and pressed down. This seals the bag without any additional tape, heat-sealing device or zip. Ideal for shipping and presentation.

What is the difference between OPP and LDPE film?

OPP (oriented polypropylene) is considerably clearer, stiffer and creases less than LDPE. For fashion presentation, OPP is therefore superior – the garment looks more premium through the crystal-clear film. LDPE is cheaper but cloudier.

Does the adhesive seal hold reliably?

Yes, provided the adhesive flap is sealed correctly. Important: the flap must be pressed down across its entire width. The adhesive strength typically withstands shipping stress without any problems. For extreme loads (very heavy or sharp contents) we recommend additional tape.

Are the bags resealable?

No. The adhesive flap is a single-use seal. For resealable applications we recommend ziplock bags with a zip profile or drawstring bags.

What size do I need for jumpers?

200×300 mm for standard jumpers. For oversize or knitted jumpers, 300×400 mm. Women's jumpers often fit in 200×300 mm, while men's jumpers and oversize fits are better suited to 300×400 mm.

Are the bags food-grade?

Yes, the OPP film and the adhesive used are compliant with EU 10/2011. They are suitable for direct food applications (small snacks, pralines). Exception: the PCR-recycled variant is still in the testing phase for food-contact suitability and is not currently approved for direct food contact.

Can the bags be printed with a logo?

Yes. Adhesion seal bags can be printed well – either on the front, the back or directly on the adhesive flap for brand branding. For smaller runs, labelling is a practical option.

Do the bags crease?

OPP creases considerably less than LDPE. For premium fashion with high presentation standards, this is an important advantage. Even so, packing too tightly can crease OPP bags too – choosing the right size matters.

Are the bags environmentally friendly?

OPP is a simple polyolefin and is recyclable in principle. Mono-PP is well suited to recycling in the yellow bag. The adhesive flap remains fully compatible with recycling. For explicitly sustainable applications we recommend PCR-recycled variants. These are still in the testing phase for food-contact suitability and are not currently approved for direct food contact.

Can the bags be used for shipping?

Yes. The adhesive flap makes them ready to ship without any additional tape. They are suitable for DHL, DPD, Hermes and all common parcel carriers. For particularly valuable shipments we recommend additional outer packaging.

How do fashion and jewellery applications differ?

For jewellery, smaller formats (50×80 to 100×150 mm) are sufficient. For fashion you will need the larger formats from 150×220 mm. The film and the seal are identical.

Are smaller quantities worthwhile for fashion workshops?

Yes, stock items in standard sizes are available from the warehouse. Custom printing becomes worthwhile from larger runs – we advise on run-size calculations.
