What are slider bags for travel?

Slider bags for travel are the robust variant of the classic travel packaging bag. They differ from standard ziplock bags through a sliding closure: a small plastic slider is pulled along the closure rail and reliably presses the profile together. This makes the closing process easier and tighter than a pure ziplock closure – especially when hands are wet or oily, which often happens in travel applications.

The typical travel use case: for airport security screening, every traveller needs a waterproof clear bag for liquids of up to 100 ml. Slider bags are the solution here – they are transparent (security screening can see the contents immediately), waterproof (no leaking with pressure changes in the aircraft) and resealable many times over (the same bag for all flights of the return journey). For beach and outdoor applications they are also standard: phones, wallets, keys are protected from water, sand and dirt.

Frequently asked questions about travel slider bags

What is the difference between a slider and a ziplock closure?

Ziplock closure: two profiles are pressed together with the fingers. Slider closure: a slider is pulled along the rail and presses the profile together. The slider closure is tighter (especially with wet hands) and easier to close.

Are the bags approved for air travel security?

Yes, provided they meet the general requirements (transparent, max 1 litre total volume, liquids max 100 ml per container). Our 150×200 mm bags are the standard size for airport security screening.

Are the bags waterproof?

Yes, when the slider is closed correctly. For diving applications, the waterproofing is not sufficient (pressure ingress). For splashes, rain, beach water and brief immersion they are secure.

How many closing cycles do they withstand?

Typically 200–500 cycles – sufficient for several trips or seasonal use.

Are the bags food-grade?

Yes, EU 10/2011-compliant. They are approved for travel snacks (muesli, dried fruit, sweets). Exception: the PCR-recycled variant is still in the testing phase for food-contact suitability and is not currently approved for direct food contact.

How do travel and standard ziplock bags differ?

Travel variants are more robust (typically 80–100 microns instead of 50 microns), often have a sliding closure instead of a ziplock closure, and are available in travel-specific standard sizes. Standard ziplock bags are more versatile but not specifically optimised for travel.

Can the bags be used for pool and beach?

Yes, ideal. Phone, wallet, keys protected from sand. Diving under water is not recommended – only splashes and brief immersion.

Are the bags useful for travel with babies and children?

Yes, for spare clothes, snacks and toiletries for babies and toddlers they are a practical solution. In a changing bag they can provide leak protection for liquids.

Can the bags be printed with a brand logo?

Yes. For hotels, travel brands and airlines, custom printing is a clear branding plus. Prices depend on the print run.

Do the bags hold up in a suitcase too?

Yes. The more robust film thickness (80–100 microns) and the waterproof sliding closure make them secure even with rough suitcase handling. For particularly sensitive contents, we recommend additional padding.

Are sustainable travel bags available?

To a limited extent. Travel applications require high material quality, which is technically achievable with PCR recyclate. For explicitly sustainable travel brands, PCR variants are available on request. These are still in the testing phase for food-contact suitability and are not currently approved for direct food contact.

Which print run makes sense?

Stock items in standard sizes are available from stock. Custom printing becomes worthwhile from larger print runs. For hotels with their own logo, we recommend print runs on request.
