What are 4-ply block bottom bags?
4-ply block bottom bags are classic kraft paper sacks with a block bottom (a rectangular, foldable base for standing upright) and a multi-layer wall build of 4 bonded kraft paper plies. The multi-ply build is not a marketing flourish but a technical necessity: for heavy powders such as flour, baking mixes, animal feed granulates or industrial powders in 1–5 kg quantities, the sack needs a considerably higher strength than single-ply paper can provide. The four plies distribute the load and prevent sharp granulate grains from piercing through the wall or the seam from splitting when the sack is lifted.
Most of our 4-ply block bottom bags have a PE-coated inner ply inside for moisture protection, or a pure kraft paper inner ply for breathable applications. With flour, seeds and some foods, breathability is important, because the contents are otherwise prone to mould formation. For moisture-sensitive powders (white flour, baking powder, some granulates) the PE inner layer is the right choice. The block bottom is valve-controlled or cross-sealed for machine or manual sealing.
Our range of 4-ply block bottom bags covers standard sizes from 1 kg up to 25 kg. For food contact, food-grade variants are available (compliant with EU 10/2011). The natural brown kraft paper look is standard; printed or bleached variants are available. For flour mills, bakeries and animal feed producers, this type of packaging has been the proven industry standard for decades.
