Coffee packaging covers all bag formats for roasted coffee, ground coffee and specialty products. The choice of material depends on aroma sensitivity, shelf-life requirements and brand positioning.
Stand-up pouches and block bottom bags
Classic coffee packaging formats with a stable base construction for shelf presentation. Laminate options: PET/AL/LDPE for an aluminum high barrier, kraft paper/AL/LDPE for an artisan look, mono-PE for PPWR compliance.
Side gusset bags
Square base shape with a tin-tie closure at the top. The classic specialty coffee packaging in the premium segment. Identical material options to stand-up pouches.
Flat bags with an aroma valve
The simplest coffee packaging format — flat-sealed, with an integrated aroma valve. Suitable for 100 g / 250 g sampler sizes, sampler sets and shipping packaging.
Aroma protection valve — technical function
Coffee beans release CO₂ and aromatic compounds after roasting. The aroma valve lets CO₂ escape while at the same time blocking the ingress of oxygen. Without a valve, coffee would have to degas for 14 days before it could be packed airtight.
Material recommendation by coffee type
Premium specialty coffee: PET/AL/LDPE or kraft paper/AL/LDPE for maximum barrier and brand look. Standard filter coffee: mono-PE for a PPWR-compliant solution. Direct marketers / short shelf life: kraft paper/PLA compostable.
All materials are certified for food contact to EU 10/2011.
