The Cross Bottom Bags with Seal Seam 30 microns are crystal-clear stand-up bags with a square cross bottom that stands up on its own once filled and stays upright on the sales floor. At 30 microns material thickness they are the lightweight option for dry, non-sharp-edged contents and are food-grade in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011.

What the cross bottom bags with seal seam are used for

You use the cross bottom wherever the bag should stand on the shelf or counter instead of tipping over. The folded-under base gusset gives the bag a firm, square standing surface, so even loose goods can be presented cleanly and opaque-free, neatly lined up. Classic applications are confectionery, dry products, tea, spices and portioned baked goods — anything that should stand tidily and be clearly visible at the point of sale.

Material and properties

The film is crystal-clear, so the contents stay fully visible — a real advantage for visually appealing goods that sell themselves. Using the continuous seal seam, you close the bag permanently and cleanly with a film sealer, without an additional clip or closure. Food contact is secured via the EU framework regulation EC 1935/2004 and the plastics regulation EU 10/2011; you receive the declaration of conformity (PIM) and, on request, migration reports.

Choosing the right thickness

30 microns are entirely sufficient for light, dry and non-edged contents such as tea, confectionery or spices and keep packaging costs low. If you have heavier or sharper-edged goods, or the bag should bring more stiffness and brilliance, the 40 micron OPP-CPP version is the more robust choice. If you need a seasonal look for the Christmas business, the same bag is available with a double-sided poinsettia print.

What is the cross bottom for on this bag?

The cross bottom gives the bag a square standing surface, so it stands on its own when filled. That makes it ideal for presentation at the POS, where tipping bags make the goods look untidy.

Is the 30 micron film approved for food contact?

Yes. The bag is food-grade in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and therefore suitable for direct contact with tea, confectionery, spices and baked goods. We send you the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

When are 30 microns too thin and I need a stronger version?

30 microns are designed for light, dry and non-sharp-edged contents. For heavy, edged or coarse-grained goods that could pierce the film, you are better off with the 40 micron OPP-CPP version.

How do I seal the open side of the bag cleanly?

Via the seal seam. With a film sealer or bar sealer you close the open side permanently and tightly — a clean solution for the finished packaging of tea or confectionery.

Do the contents stay visible?

Yes, the film is crystal-clear. You see the contents fully, which supports the purchase decision at the shelf for decorative goods such as pralines or tea blends.

Is the bag also suitable for packing coffee?

For ground or stored coffee in small quantities, yes. For freshly roasted coffee that releases CO₂, however, this bag lacks the degassing valve — the side gusset bags with aroma protection valve are intended for that.

How does this version differ from the poinsettia bag?

Technically both are identical: cross bottom, seal seam, 30 microns, food-grade. The poinsettia version additionally carries a double-sided seasonal print and is intended for the Christmas business.

Can I have the bag fitted with my own branding?
