The transparent OPP stand-up pouch is a doypack made of oriented polypropylene (OPP) with a bottom gusset – crystal clear, stiffer and more brilliant than LDPE, making it the premium clear-view variant. It is food-safe in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and can be recycled as a single-material stream within the PP recycling stream, so you combine premium clarity and recyclability in a single pouch.
You use OPP when the contents should be presented with maximum brilliance. The film is stiffer than LDPE, crackles slightly and gives the pouch a high-quality, dimensionally stable presence on the shelf.
OPP is crystal clear and stiff, has an elegant gloss and good aroma retention for dry goods. Compared to LDPE, light refracts more clearly, the pouch holds its shape better and looks more premium. However, OPP is less soft and not as freezer-elastic as LDPE.
Choose OPP when brilliance, stiffness and a premium look matter. If you need a soft, especially cold-resistant film for freezing, the transparent LDPE variant is the better choice. OPP is recyclable as a single-material stream in the PP stream and belongs in the yellow recycling bag – RecyClass-compliant.
OPP takes print motifs brilliantly and holds them sharp to the edge, which suits the premium look; individual brand printing in flexo or gravure printing is possible. Thanks to the stiffness of the material, the pouch runs dimensionally stable in automated filling, and the tear notch ensures clean first opening for the customer. As single-material polypropylene, the pouch is recyclable in the PP stream and RecyClass-compliant. OPP is crystal clear, stiffer and more brilliant, making it look more premium. LDPE is softer and more elastic and is better suited for freezing. For maximum visibility and a premium look, OPP is the first choice.
Very brilliant – light refracts more clearly than with LDPE, so the contents are presented more elegantly. That makes OPP ideal for pralines, confectionery and premium sweets.
Considerably stiffer than LDPE. The pouch holds its shape, stands dimensionally stable and conveys a high-quality feel. When handled, OPP typically crackles slightly.
We do not recommend it. OPP is less cold-flexible than LDPE and can become more brittle at low temperatures. For freezing, choose the transparent LDPE variant.
For the clear-view presentation of ground or degassed coffee, yes. For freshly roasted coffee with CO₂ release and full light protection, the aluminium or valve variants are better.
It consists of pure polypropylene and belongs in the yellow recycling bag. In the German PP recycling stream it is recyclable and RecyClass-compliant.
Yes, the bottom gusset forms a stable standing base, and thanks to the stiffness of OPP the pouch stands especially upright on the shelf.
