The side gusset bags with sealed seam 30 microns are crystal-clear bags with built-in side gussets that open when filled, creating extra volume and a base area. Made of OPP with a 30 microns material thickness, they are food-grade per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and recyclable as a monomaterial in the PP stream.

What the side gusset bags with sealed seam are used for

The side gussets give the bag depth, so it holds more than a flat bag of the same width and can stand upright when filled. This makes them ideal for the voluminous presentation of dry foods where the goods should stay visible. They are used above all for spices, dry products, powder portions and similar conversion at the point of sale.

Material and properties

OPP is crystal clear and stiff, so the contents stay brilliantly visible and the bag holds its shape well. Via the sealed seam you close it permanently and tightly with a film sealing device. As the bag consists of pure polypropylene, it is a recyclable monomaterial in the PP stream and designed for the EU Packaging Regulation PPWR from 2030. Food contact is certified per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011; you receive the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

When this transparent version is the right fit

You choose this 30 microns OPP version when the goods should stay visible and you need a recyclable clear-view solution with volume. If, on the other hand, it is about freshly roasted coffee or other light- and oxygen-sensitive goods, the side gusset bags with aroma protection valve made of aluminium in black or gold are the right choice – they are light-tight and degas the coffee via the valve.

What do the side gussets do on these bags?

Where do I dispose of the bags?

In the yellow recycling bag or yellow bin. As a monomaterial made of polypropylene they are recycled in the German PP recycling stream.

Are these bags suitable for freshly roasted coffee?

Only to a limited extent. They lack the degassing valve that freshly roasted coffee needs to release CO₂, and the transparent film does not protect against light. For coffee, the black or gold side gusset bags with aroma protection valve are the right choice.

Are the bags food-grade?

Yes, per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. They are approved for direct contact with spices, dry products and similar foods. The declaration of conformity (PIM) is available on request.

How do I seal the side gusset bags tightly?

Via the sealed seam. With a film sealing device you create a permanently tight seal — suitable for the finished conversion of dry goods.
