The rLDPE gusseted tubing film with recycled content 50 µm is the sustainable version of tubular film on a roll: polyethylene with a recycled content, from which you cut bags to length and heat-seal them. At 50 µm thickness it combines flexible custom assembly with reduced use of virgin plastic — crystal clear and versatile in the non-food sector.

What the rLDPE tubing film is used for

This film is aimed at anyone who wants to make their bag assembly more sustainable without giving up flexibility or transparency. You cut off exactly the length you need and heat-seal it — the same process as with virgin material, just with a recycled content. This makes your packaging visibly more environmentally friendly without changing your usual routine at the heat sealer.

Recycled content and sustainability

rLDPE stands for polyethylene with a recycled content. This reduces the demand for virgin material and closes the plastics loop without losing recyclability: the film remains a PE mono-material and runs cleanly through the PE stream. The recycled film is not suitable for direct food contact — rLDPE is still in the testing phase for food safety.

Assembling it and choosing the right variant

Processing is identical to the virgin-material film: the tube has no side seam, the circumference equals twice the flat width, and the roll runs on a 76 mm core. You cut to length and heat-seal to form a sealed bag. If sustainability is your priority and your contents are light to medium weight, this rLDPE variant at 50 µm is the right choice. If you need more puncture resistance for heavy or sharp-edged contents, choose the LDPE variant at 100 µm; if you want pure virgin material at standard thickness, the LDPE tubing film 50 µm is the matching sibling variant.

Frequently asked questions about the rLDPE tubing film with recycled content

What does rLDPE and recycled content mean?

rLDPE is polyethylene with a recycled content. Instead of pure virgin material, part of the film consists of recycled material. This reduces the use of virgin plastic and closes the plastics loop, while the film remains recyclable as a PE mono-material.

Does the recycled film process just like virgin material?

Yes. You cut it off the roll the same way and seal the cut edges with a film heat sealer. The recycled content changes nothing about the assembly — the tube has no side seam and you get bags made to measure.

Is the film food-safe?

No. At present, all rLDPE variants are still in the testing phase for food safety. For direct food contact, please choose our food-safe virgin-material film.

Is the recycled film less transparent?

No, it is crystal clear and gives a full view of the contents. Despite the recycled content, the clarity is retained, so the goods stay visible.

When do I choose rLDPE 50 µm instead of LDPE 100 µm?

If sustainability is your priority and the contents are light to medium weight, the rLDPE film at 50 µm is the right choice. For heavy, sharp-edged or pointed contents with a high risk of puncturing, the LDPE variant at 100 µm is better suited.

How do I calculate the bag circumference from the flat width?

The circumference is twice the flat width; the diameter is (2 × flat width) divided by Pi. This helps you plan which tube width matches your product diameter — this applies to the recycled film just as it does to virgin material.

How do I dispose of the rLDPE tubing film?

It belongs in the yellow recycling bag. As a PE mono-material it is NIR-recognisable and fully recyclable in the German PE recycling stream — so the recycled content it already contains also stays in the loop, designed to be PPWR-compliant.

Is the film freezer-safe?

Yes. Like all LDPE films, it stays cold-resistant down to around -40 °C and is freezer-safe, and heat-stable up to around 70–80 °C. It is not designed for hot filling.
