The rLDPE tubular film with recycled content 50 microns is the sustainable variant of the film tubing on a roll: polyethylene with a recycling share, from which you cut and seal bags to size. At 50 microns thickness it combines flexible packing with reduced virgin plastic usage — crystal-clear and versatile in non-food applications.

What the rLDPE tubular film is used for

This film is aimed at everyone who wants to set up their bag packing more sustainably without giving up flexibility or transparency. You cut off exactly the length you need and seal it — the same processing as with virgin material, only with recycled content. This way you make your packaging visibly more environmentally friendly without changing your familiar workflow at the sealing device.

Recyclate and sustainability

rLDPE stands for polyethylene with recycled content. With it you lower the need for virgin material and close the plastic loop without losing recyclability: the film remains PE mono-material and runs single-variety in the PE stream. The recyclate film is not suitable for direct food contact — rLDPE is still undergoing testing for food-contact suitability.

Packing and choosing the right variant

The processing is identical to the virgin film: the tubing has no side seam, the circumference equals twice the flat width, and the roll runs on a 76-mm core. You cut to length and seal to form a tight bag. If sustainability is the priority and your contents are light to medium-heavy, this rLDPE variant in 50 microns is right. If you need more puncture resistance for heavy or sharp-edged contents, reach for the LDPE variant in 100 microns; if you want pure virgin material in standard thickness, the LDPE tubular film 50 microns is the matching sibling variant.

Frequently asked questions about the rLDPE tubular film with recycled content

What do rLDPE and recycled content mean?

rLDPE is polyethylene with a recycling share. Instead of pure virgin material, part of the film consists of recovered material. This lowers virgin plastic usage and closes the plastic loop, while the film remains recyclable as PE mono-material.

Does the recyclate film process like virgin material?

Yes. You cut it from the roll in the same way and seal the cut edges with a film sealing device. The recycled content changes nothing about the packing — the tubing has no side seam and you get custom-made bags.

Is the film food-safe?

No. At present, all rLDPE variants are still undergoing testing for food-contact suitability. For direct food contact, please choose our food-safe virgin film.

Is the recyclate film less transparent?

No, it is crystal-clear and gives a full view of the contents. Despite the recycling share, visibility is retained, so the goods remain visible.

When do I choose rLDPE 50 microns instead of LDPE 100 microns?

If sustainability is the priority and the contents are light to medium-heavy, the rLDPE film in 50 microns is the right choice. For heavy, sharp-edged or pointed contents with a high risk of puncture, the LDPE variant in 100 microns is better suited.

How do I calculate the bag circumference from the flat width?

The circumference is twice the flat width, and the diameter is (2 × flat width) divided by Pi. This is how you plan which tubing width fits your product diameter — this applies to the recyclate film just as to virgin material.

How do I dispose of the rLDPE tubular film?

It belongs in the yellow bag. As PE mono-material it is NIR-detectable and fully recoverable in the German PE recycling stream — the already contained recycled content thus also stays in the loop, designed to be PPWR-compliant.

Is the film freezer-suitable?

Yes. Like all LDPE films it remains cold-resistant down to approx. -40 °C and is freezer-suitable, and heat-stable upward to about 70–80 °C. It is not designed for hot filling.
