The PP flat bag 40 microns is a flat, closure-free packaging bag made from crystal-clear polypropylene with a 40 micron material thickness. Unlike soft LDPE, PP is stiffer and especially brilliantly transparent – the choice when the bag should look premium and the contents should be shown to their best advantage.

01

What PP flat bags 40 microns are used for

PP flat bags are presentation bags. The high clarity and the stiff feel make goods look high-quality, and the bag does not crease softly the way LDPE does. Typical applications involve visual contact at the point of sale.

  • Food packing with a visual requirement: spices, dry goods, pralines
  • Bakery and confectionery for presentation goods
  • Gift, card and accessory packaging with a premium look
02

Material and properties

PP (polypropylene) is stiffer than LDPE, crystal-clear with high gloss and keeps its shape. The bag rustles slightly and therefore feels high-quality. For food it is suitable according to EU 10/2011 and EC 1935/2004 (declaration of conformity PIM on request). PP is highly transparent and dimensionally stable; for freezer applications soft LDPE is better suited, as PP reacts more brittly in the cold.

03

Choosing the right variant

Choose the PP flat bag when look and stiffness matter – for example for presentation at the POS. If, on the other hand, you need soft flexibility, freezer suitability or maximum tear elongation, the LDPE flat bags (25/50/100 microns) are the better choice. If the bag should additionally be cleanly sealed at the top, the OPP flat bag with sealed edge 30 microns is the matching sister variant with a ready-made sealed edge. In short: PP stands for stand and gloss, LDPE for suppleness and robustness – both have their clear place.

04

Processing and sustainability

Pure PP seals at higher temperatures than PE; if you seal regularly, the OPP bag with a ready-made seam is often the more convenient route. As a PP monomaterial the bag belongs sorted by type in the plastic recycling stream and is recyclable as well as PPWR-compliant from 2030. You order as stock goods with no minimum order value; shipping is from a German warehouse usually within 1–3 working days, and free samples are available before the first order.

Frequently asked questions about the PP flat bag 40 microns

What is the difference between PP and LDPE flat bags?

PP is stiffer and more brilliantly transparent – ideal for presentation. LDPE is soft, stretchable and freezer-suitable. For premium visual packaging you choose PP, for flexible, tear-resistant packing and freezing LDPE.

Why does the PP bag look more high-quality?

Polypropylene is crystal-clear with high gloss and keeps its shape instead of buckling limply. This stiff, slightly rustling feel makes goods appear more premium at the point of sale.

Are PP flat bags food-grade?

Yes, according to EU 10/2011 and EC 1935/2004. The declaration of conformity (PIM) is available on request – suitable for example for spices, dry goods or confectionery with a visual requirement.

Can I put PP flat bags in the freezer?

We advise against it. PP becomes more brittle in the cold than LDPE. For frozen goods the soft LDPE flat bag is the better choice, because it stays flexible down to approx. -40 °C.

Why is it 40 microns and not less?

40 microns give the PP bag enough stand for dimensionally stable presentation without looking too thick. The brilliant clarity comes fully into its own.

Can the PP bag be sealed?

Pure PP seals differently from PE and requires higher temperatures. If you want a ready-made, clean sealed edge at the top, the OPP flat bag with sealed edge is the directly matching variant.

How do I dispose of PP flat bags?

As a PP monomaterial, sorted by type into the plastic recycling stream. This makes them recyclable and PPWR-compliant from 2030.

What formats are available?
