The black side gusset bags with aroma protection valve are light-tight stand-up pouches made of aluminium composite with side gussets and an integrated one-way degassing valve – the classic packaging for freshly roasted coffee. The matte black looks refined, the valve lets CO₂ escape and blocks oxygen, and the aluminium composite ensures the maximum aroma and light barrier. Food-grade per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011.

01

What the black coffee bags are made for

Freshly roasted coffee releases CO₂ over several days. Without a valve the bag would balloon or burst; with an open closure oxygen would reach the beans and the aroma would be lost. The aroma protection valve solves exactly this: it lets the gas out one-way and keeps air out. That is why these bags are the standard solution for roasteries and specialty coffee that pack right after roasting.

  • Freshly roasted whole-bean coffee from the roastery
  • Ground coffee and specialty coffee
  • Aroma-intensive, light-sensitive dry goods
  • Tea and spices that need maximum aroma protection
02

Material and aroma protection

The aluminium composite forms the highest available barrier against oxygen, light, moisture and aroma loss – crucial for keeping coffee fresh, which reacts particularly sensitively. The side gussets give volume and a base area, the matte black a high-quality, understated look. The integrated valve works as a one-way degasser. Food contact is certified per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011; the declaration of conformity (PIM) is available on request.

03

Black or gold – which version?

Technically both are identical: aluminium composite, side gussets, aroma protection valve, light-tight. The choice is a matter of brand presentation. Black looks refined, modern and understated; the gold version sets a premium and gift accent. If, on the other hand, you need clear view without a valve for non-degassing goods, the transparent OPP side gusset bags are the matching alternative.

Frequently asked questions about the black side gusset bags with aroma protection valve

What is the aroma protection valve for?

It lets the CO₂ released by freshly roasted coffee escape one-way to the outside while blocking oxygen at the same time. Without a valve the bag would balloon; with a valve the aroma stays protected and the beans can be packed right after roasting.

Why are the bags made of aluminium composite?

Aluminium forms the highest barrier against oxygen, light, moisture and aroma loss. For coffee, which is especially light- and oxygen-sensitive, this ensures long freshness — significantly better than transparent plastic film.

Are the bags really light-tight?

Yes. Thanks to the aluminium composite and the black finish the bags are fully light-tight. This protects the aromas and oils of the coffee from light-induced degradation.

How do the black bags differ from the gold version?

Only in the look. Material, side gussets, valve and barrier are identical. Black looks refined and understated, gold sets a premium and gift accent. Which one you choose depends solely on your brand presentation.

Does the coffee have to go into the bag right after roasting?

Yes, and that is even the advantage. Thanks to the degassing valve you can pack freshly roasted coffee immediately without letting it degas for long. The CO₂ escapes in a controlled way via the valve.

How do I seal the coffee bags airtight?

Via a sealed seam or clean corner seam that you close with a film sealing device. This creates a tight, aroma-safe closure — important so that the barrier effect is preserved.

Do the filled bags stand on their own?

Yes. The built-in side gussets create volume and a base area, so the filled coffee bag stands upright on the shelf or counter.

Can I print the coffee bags with my own roastery logo?

Yes. Custom printing in flexo or gravure printing is possible from a minimum order quantity, so the black bags carry your roastery branding. We clarify quantity and lead time individually via the contact form.
