The rLDPE ziplock bag with recycled content, 50 microns, no write-on strips is a ziplock bag made from LDPE with a share of recycled polyethylene. It lowers your virgin material usage while retaining the ziplock closure and tear resistance of the classic LDPE bag at 50 microns wall thickness.

What the recyclate bag is made for

This variant is intended for everyone who wants to improve their packaging footprint without giving up the familiar PE function. The recycled content reduces the need for virgin plastic. Typical uses:

  • Non-food trade: technical small parts, accessories, samples and loose goods
  • small parts and spare parts, workshop components, electronic components
  • general storage and shipping packaging with a sustainability claim

Material, recyclate and recycling

The base remains LDPE: soft, tear-resistant and freezer-suitable down to about -40 °C. Due to the recycled content, the film may appear minimally less crystal-clear than pure virgin LDPE. The bag is not suitable for direct food contact: as recyclate (rLDPE) it is still undergoing testing for food-contact suitability — for food, please choose our food-safe bags made from virgin LDPE. As a PE mono-material it is fully recyclable in the PE stream and PPWR-compliant from 2030 — the use of recyclate also supports the circular economy that the PPWR will require in the future.

rLDPE vs. virgin LDPE vs. PLA

You choose the rLDPE bag when you want to use recyclate and recycle it in the PE stream at the end of life. If you need maximum crystal clarity, take the LDPE bag made from virgin material. If, on the other hand, industrial compostability is the goal, the bio-based PLA bag is the right way. The 50-micron thickness covers light to medium contents; for heavy or sharp-edged goods, rLDPE is also available in 90 microns.

Circular economy in concrete terms

The recycled content is more than a label: every bag that consists partly of recycled polyethylene lowers the need for fossil-based virgin plastic and keeps material already in circulation within the loop. This is exactly the direction that the EU packaging regulation PPWR is driving with its recyclate quotas and recyclability requirements from 2030. Because the bag remains single-variety PE despite its recycled content, it is recyclable again at end of life via the recycling bin — so the loop closes twice over. In practice this means, for you, packaging that you seal, fill and freeze as usual, but which brings a measurably better environmental footprint than pure virgin material. A slightly reduced crystal clarity is a small, mostly uncritical compromise in return.

Frequently asked questions about the rLDPE ziplock bag with recycled content 50 microns

What does recycled content mean for this bag?

Part of the material comes from recycled polyethylene instead of virgin material. This lowers the need for virgin plastic and supports the circular economy without fundamentally changing the PE properties.

Is the recyclate bag food-safe?

No. At present, all rLDPE variants are still undergoing testing for food-contact suitability. For direct food contact, please choose our food-safe bags made from virgin LDPE.

Can you see the recycled content in the bag?

It may appear minimally less crystal-clear than a bag made from pure virgin LDPE. For most packaging purposes the difference is uncritical — if you want absolute brilliance, take the virgin LDPE bag.

How do I dispose of the rLDPE bag?

Via the recycling / yellow bin. Despite its recycled content it is single-variety PE mono-material and therefore NIR-detectable and fully recoverable in the PE recycling stream.

Is the film freezer-suitable?

Yes. Like pure LDPE, rLDPE remains flexible down to about -40 °C and is therefore suitable for the freezer.

How does rLDPE differ from the PLA bag?

rLDPE is petroleum-based with a recycling share and is recycled in the PE stream; PLA is bio-based and industrially compostable via the organic waste bin. The choice depends on your disposal and sustainability goal.

When is 50 microns enough and when is 90 microns better in rLDPE?

50 microns is enough for light, smooth contents. For heavy or sharp-edged parts that could pierce through, take the rLDPE variant in 90 microns.

Does the ziplock closure hold on the recyclate film?

Yes, the double-lip zip works just like on the virgin bag and lasts 30–50 press-to-close cycles.
