The LDPE flat bags 50 microns are flat, closureless packaging bags made from crystal-clear, soft low-density polyethylene with 50 microns material thickness. This middle tier is the robust universal gauge of the range and the variant most users reach for when bags are filled, stacked and transported daily.

What the LDPE flat bags 50 microns are used for

50 microns is the all-rounder: stable enough for normal handling, yet still flexible and economical. You use them wherever the thin 25 microns bag would be too light and the heavy 100 microns one over-dimensioned.

Material and properties

LDPE is soft, tear-resistant and stretchy – at 50 microns you get noticeably more stability than at 25 microns without the bag becoming stiff. It stays crystal-clear for full visibility of the contents. For food it is suitable per EU 10/2011 and EC 1935/2004 (declaration of conformity PIM on request). On the temperature side LDPE is cold-resistant down to about -40 °C and suitable for deep-freezing, heat-stable up to around 70–80 °C.

Choosing the right thickness

Choose 50 microns when you are looking for one gauge for many tasks – this is the safe standard choice. For very light, soft contents and maximum economy, 25 microns is enough. If the contents become heavy or sharp-edged (screws, metal parts, angular pieces), take 100 microns. If you need recycled content for ecological reasons, the rLDPE flat bags 50 microns are the same-material alternative with GRS recyclate. If you are unsure, 50 microns is almost always a good starting point – from here you adjust deliberately up or down.

Processing and sustainability

You seal the bags cleanly with any film sealer; at 50 microns you get a particularly durable, tight seam. As a PE mono-material they are recyclable by type and PPWR-compliant from 2030. You order them as stock goods without a minimum order value; shipping from the German warehouse usually takes 1–3 working days, and before your first order we send you free samples on request.

Frequently asked questions about the LDPE flat bags 50 microns

Why is the 50 microns variant considered the universal thickness?

Because it is stable enough for daily filling, stacking and shipping yet still stays flexible and economical. It sits exactly between the light 25 microns and the heavy 100 microns tier and fits most standard applications.

What distinguishes 50 microns from 25 microns?

50 microns is twice as thick and therefore significantly more tear-resistant and puncture-proof. You choose 25 microns for light, soft contents and maximum film savings; 50 microns for contents with some weight and frequent handling.

Are the 50 microns bags food-grade?

Yes. They are suitable for food contact per EU 10/2011 and the framework regulation EC 1935/2004. You receive the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

Are the bags suitable for deep-freezing?

Yes. LDPE stays flexible down to approx. -40 °C and does not become brittle, so the 50 microns bag is suitable for deep-freezing. It is not designed for hot filling above around 70–80 °C.

Can I heat-seal the bag?

Yes. LDPE can be sealed without problems using a film sealer. At 50 microns you get a particularly durable, tight seam.

How do the standard 50 microns bags differ from the rLDPE bags?

Material and thickness are identical, but the rLDPE bags contain GRS-certified recycled content. Reach for the rLDPE bags if a more sustainable use of material matters to you; otherwise the standard LDPE bags are clearer.

How are the bags disposed of?

As a PE mono-material, by type into the PE recyclables stream. This makes them recyclable and compliant with the PPWR from 2030.
