The aluminum stand-up pouches are doypacks with an aluminum composite and a built-in bottom gusset that offer the highest aroma, light and oxygen barrier in the stand-up pouch range. They are food-grade per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and therefore the first choice when contents should stay fresh for an especially long time.
You use these pouches wherever oxygen, light or moisture would quickly age the contents. The aluminum layer acts as an almost complete barrier and keeps aroma, fat and colour stable.
The aluminum composite is light-tight and blocks oxygen and water vapour far better than pure PE or PP film. This is exactly what noticeably extends the shelf life of aroma-intensive products. The sealable inner layer ensures tight seams, and the tear notch makes clean opening easier.
If it is about maximum barrier and the longest shelf life, aluminum is unrivalled. If, on the other hand, recyclability is the priority, the aluminum-free or the monomaterial version is the better choice, as they are recyclable sorted-by-type in the PE stream. For freshly roasted coffee you ideally combine aluminum with an aroma protection valve so the CO₂ can escape.
The aluminum composite takes print motifs opaquely and with strong colour, so even dark or metallic designs can be realised; custom brand printing in flexo or gravure printing is possible. In filling, the sealable inner layer scores with tight, clean seams. Weigh it up: for the longest shelf life of aroma-intensive products the aluminum composite is unrivalled, for a recyclable brand image you check the aluminum-free or the monomaterial version. Yes, the aluminum layer is completely opaque to light. This protects light- and oxidation-sensitive products such as roasted coffee or fatty nuts from going rancid.
For the barrier, yes. However, freshly roasted coffee releases CO₂ – without a degassing valve the pouch can balloon. For this, choose the aluminum version with aroma protection valve or fill only after the main degassing.
Aluminum delivers the maximum barrier and longest shelf life, but as a composite it is not sorted-by-type. The aluminum-free version has a somewhat lower barrier, but in return can be recycled in the PE recycling stream.
Yes, the built-in bottom gusset forms a stable base area when filled – good for upright presentation on the sales shelf.
Yes, via the zip with 30–50 opening cycles. This keeps the contents aroma-protected after first opening, and the tear notch gives a clean opening edge.
Freezing is possible. For genuine hot filling we recommend asking about suitability in advance, as this depends on the specific composite structure.
As composite packaging they belong in the yellow recycling bag. Sorting by type as with monomaterial is not possible here – but in return the barrier is unbeatable.
